What happened in Production section:
The used 9 5/8″ casing was run quite smoothly. Not a single joint rejected, and Frank’s tongs indicated no challenges with M/U or similar.

OBS! The casing connections were originally Tenaris Blue Dopeless, but since the casing had been used before, it was decided to apply casing thread dope Jetlube sealguard ECF on the joints we planned to re-use. Only change we did in the program was to adhere to Tenaris’ Blue Doped MU torques instead, which worked extremely well, and then just changing over to the planned dopeless M/U torques once we crossed over from re-used joints to new joints.

What Was Planned

Run re-used 9 5/8″ casing from the mainbore, in the sidetrack.

What Was Learned

It worked quite well re-using old casing as long as we doped them and made sure we used separate M/U torques for new and old casing. No joints rejected.

It was also very helpful to keep a thread inspector from Tenaris onboard to put minds at ease and veryfying the thread quality of the used pipes.

What Actions Are Required
